A vacancy exists for a IT Services Junior Specialist to work within the Office of Technology Services at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit! The IT Services Jr.
Specialist provides technical support services for MCIU.
This role is responsible for handling day-to-day supports by logging incidents, resolving issues, and closing out assigned tickets efficiently and effectively.
The IT Services Jr.
Specialist also works directly with the rest of the IT Services Team in troubleshooting higher-level tickets and requests, assisting with solutions, resolving various service requests, providing system troubleshooting and support, and conducting first-level support using documented procedures and available tools.
Qualifications:
HS Diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
1-3 years of experience in any specialized area required as part of the job functions.
Expertise (includes one or more of the following):
Professional approach to their work that includes very strong customer service skills.
Interfacing frequently with customers and stakeholders.
Strong technology skills, including extensive use of Microsoft applications as well as MCIU software.
Specialized skills in area to be able to work autonomously as proven through work experience.
Knowledge of:
Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Office 365, and Azure.
Active Directory, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, VPN, LAN, WAN, and VLAN Servers and network equipment.
Ability to work as a member of a team, follow directions, and follow through with completed assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and read and understand highly technical documents.
Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills; ability to use technology to work effectively.
Valid driver's license and safe driving record without major traffic violations; travel to school buildings as required.
Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.
Duties &
Responsibilities:
Provide technical support services to MCIU and member Local Education Agencies (LEAs) Install, configure, maintain, support, and troubleshoot computer technology including, but not limited to:
Desktop and portable computers, computing devices, and peripherals Present and future client operating systems (i.
e.
, Windows, Chrome OS, macOS, and open source).
Application software/suites, troubleshooting tools, antivirus remediation, security best practices.
Printers (e.
g.
, laser, color, inkjet, wide format) and copiers when requested.
Maintain proficiency in imaging techniques and rollout strategies to support initiatives.
Assist with training in hardware and software applications as needed and facilitate technical product research and support.
Support the IT Services Team with communications of all issues involving security beaches or breakdowns in addition to any other areas identified by the Supervisor of IT Services.
Provide professional and effective technical support to internal and external clients as well as work with vendors and other partners as required.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and base understanding of new technologies.
Travel to external locations as requested by the Supervisor of IT Services.
Service equipment, maintain records as requested, and close out assigned tickets in an efficient manner.
Continuously expand upon current skill set by attending required training sessions.
Assist the IT Services Team with updating security and network/server configurations and documentation.
Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the systems.
Maintain system end-user documentation and business rules.
Maintain current knowledge and a base understanding of internal and external client systems and new technologies.
Preserve and maintain good relationships with MCIU and LEAs, technical staff, vendors, and statewide counterparts.
Provide regular status reports on current projects and initiatives to the Supervisor of IT Services.
Project a positive image of the IU and its programs and services.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the OTS Directors.
Location:
The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7 hours/day, 12 months (260-262 days/year) Salary:
$26.
35/hour - $31.
